BLOG: What’s the real anti-aging secret?

8 minutes reading

What if someone told you that you had the power to take control of how you age and actively slow down the process? Or alternately, you could speed it up? Your choice would be a no-brainer. But would your actions follow through to deliver the results?

The actions required are simple. Moving our bodies regularly can actually turn off, or at the very least, dial down the aging process in our chromosomes. The anti-aging powers of a regular exercise routine are impressive – even moderate amounts can make you look and feel years younger than you actually are. Midlife – and beyond – no longer needs to go hand in hand with feeling and looking older.

The fastest way to age, right down to cellular level, is a lack of movement in your daily routine. Did you know that “physical inactivity” is now described as a global pandemic, and that was before most of us were confined to our homes during lockdowns. We’re now more sedentary than ever! Despite movement being among the most accessible and effective ways to look and feel younger, finding the motivation to move – even for optimal aging – has proven to be difficult.

The good news is that it’s never too late to get started! So no matter your age or fitness level, you’re not off the hook! It’s time to find a way to enjoy the anti-aging benefits of regular, daily movement and exercise. But how do we make it an enjoyable, daily habit rather than a chore?

Until I was introduced to integrated functional movement, I battled to find the mojo to get my daily dose of exercise. What’s more, when I started researching how to incorporate it into my life for maximum benefit, I discovered that regular movement or exercise was key, and that a big workout in the morning didn’t necessarily mean I’d ticked that chore off the list!

More research on how to develop a new, daily habit – when life often got in the way – kept serving up some key, daily hacks. Because our motivation can often fail us, we need to build in other systems to help keep us on track. It seemed crazy not to share these learnings that have transformed my daily life – so together with my team we got to work to make it easy for you to access your anti-aging superpowers, even if you have massive time constraints as you juggle home, work, kids, significant others, friends and community commitments.

We have developed a 21 day course called “First Steps to Physical Freedom”, combining the advice of habit experts and TheOptimal.me’s Integrated Movement Routines (IMRs). You can choose either a 15 or 5 minute workout option each day.

One of the great benefits of the daily Integrated Movement Routines (IMRs) is that you begin to take the movement patterns you learn with you into your day, easily incorporating them whilst you’re waiting for the kettle to boil, taking a 5 minute office stretch, or simply in the way you move about, walking taller with greater energy, feeling better … Feeling younger! Midlife doesn’t mean you have to accept the normal aches and pains of aging.

You get to choose – do you slow down your aging process or not? How important is your physical freedom? We often take the most important things in life for granted, but maintaining our physical freedom will ensure that we get to experience more, rather than less. And an exercise routine can quite literally turn back the clock resulting in our biological age being quite different to our chronological age.

TheOptimal.me is currently offering a 30 day free plan with no card required – so you’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain by starting a new healthy habit. Why not get to know and fall in love with your body all over again, appreciating how it feels, and how it carries you through life – and caring for it in return? After all, it’s the only one you’ve got.
